Reports are still sketchy, but President Trump was injured in a possible assassination attempt in PA.

He walked out mostly under his own power and pumped his fist in resolve and defiance as he was escorted out by the Secret Service.

I know I don't know what I don't know, so I will reserve any comments. For now.

Reporting says shooter and one attendee killed.

AP reports (according to the Butler County DA) that the Secret Service killed the shooter. --Bob

It is being reported the shooter is one Mark Violeta, an Antifa member.

Biden released the following statement:

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

No comment at this time.

All reports at this time is that this was an attempted assassination attempt. Let this sink in.

I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

This is a photo for the ages.

Obstetrician interviewed, he was in the stands. A man few arms length away. A man was shot from behind beyond the bleachers. The bystander was shot dead in front of 4 members of his family.

Next shot hit a woman in the arm. One of the 7 grazed the former President's ear.

The Obstetrician helped cover the dead man's head with a towel. Helped the medics carry his body out of the stands.

When the Obstetrician got to the venue. He thought it was very open beyond the bleachers. He told his friend if someone were to attempt something. This is the venue.

That video interview with BBC was wild.

I hope you are referring to someone else. I have been scrupulous in only posting what I know has been verified or reported. I will reserve my opinions until later. I will not post in anger, and I am very angry right now.

Where are you getting that information? I have not seen or heard that the ID has been released. I'm not picking a fight - I'm trying to get info.

Where are you g…… that information? I have not seen or heard that the ID has been released. I'm not picking a fight - I'm trying to g.. info.

Apparently the news has been taken down. I did see a name and picture id’ing the shooter by name (I can’t remember it) along with a photo of his social media and reporting a post he made earlier in the day. I won’t repeat any of what I recall from the article since I can no longe find it, other than it did say he was an Antifa member or sympathizer (to support what Flock is reporting).

The site was one I’d not heard of.

The FBI has identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. According to voter records, someone with the same name at the same address was a registered Republican.

So much for the Republican officeholders trying to blame the shooting on Democratic rhetoric or people on this Bored trying to blame "antifa" (whatever that may mean). --Bob

I remember immediately after the Oklahoma City bombing, the right wing radio host in Atlanta was blaming this on Islamic terrorists because it had all the earmarks of one of their attacks. We know how that turned out.

I heard on the TV news that this guy had also made a $15 donation to something called the Progressive Turnout Project. The authorities will undoubtedly learn more when they search his belongings and social media history. He was about 150 yards away from Trump when he shot from the only building tall enough in the vicinity to allow a shooter to hit the stage area. So this wasn't some "master sniper" shooting from a mile away. I would have thought that the secret service/police would have manned that building themselves before the shooting for the same reason.

I wonder if and when someone will blame this shooting on lax gun laws.

That makes no sense Bob.

First, isn’t your rhetoric, and that of your party intended to “change minds”? Or do you just speak to antagonize?

Second, the shooter was 20 years old, so has never voted in a presidential election.

Third, he monetary supported liberal causes.

When Crooks was 17 he made a $15 donation to ActBlue, a political action committee that raises money for left-leaning and Democratic politicians, according to a 2021 Federal Election Commission filing.

He was 17 and that was three years ago, but as relevant as his party registration.

And forth, he tried to assassinate the Republican candidate.

So I’m pretty sure he’s not really Republican.

This was a huge failure on the Secret Service. Whoever was lead on the event should lose their job. Or at least be demoted.

As far as blaming gun laws, that blame won’t come from the side that was shot at. We’ll blame lax security, which is where blame should lie.
