In light of today's decision
if I were President Biden, I think I would convene a meeting of each of the generals of the armed forces individually, and I would say, "pursuant to my duties in Article II Section 1 Clause 8 of the Constitution, I must preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. Therefore, since I believe Donald J Trump is a clear and present danger to the Constitution, as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, I am ordering you to ensure that he is removed as a threat to our country's Constitution." He is guaranteed absolute immunity from prosecution for this, right?
Of course, Democrats are way too big of cowards to actually do something to test this ridiculous decision, so it will never happen, but it's fun to speculate. And I don't have any doubt that republics will do something similar next year, when they control the White House.
This is the worst decision since Citizens United.

So, are you advocating for the assassination of President Trump, there Mrkelley? Fun to speculate, huh? I wonder if you'll get a 'wow' from travis? Your fun and my fun must be different. Speculating the assassintion, or even imprisonment, of a politcal foe that half (rounding) the country wants to be the next president is distasteful at best, IMO.mrkelley23 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:40 pmif I were President Biden, I think I would convene a meeting of each of the generals of the armed forces individually, and I would say, "pursuant to my duties in Article II Section 1 Clause 8 of the Constitution, I must preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. I'm pretty sure what your response to such rhetoric would have been had it been me, or Spock, or Flock suggesting the same "fun" for Biden or Obama.

I guess trump is so bad that abandoning all trace of human morality is required to defeat him.
Somehow I missed it when we were descended into hell during his first term. It seemed relatively calm to me except for the constant hysteria from the left. Seems to me that is their normal state.

That was the worst dissent opinion ever written in the history of the Supreme Court. I suspect the justices are so sequestered from 'politics' that they just don't understand the insanity of the now mainstream left or of the far-right lunatics (whom trump DID condemn, and whom we all condemn). Yes, there are some, but they are NOT MAGA. Another perpetual, continuing lie from the swamp-controlled media conglomerate, the mouthpiece of the bullshit world.

No one is inciting an assassination. They are just pointing out the potential ramifications of the Supreme Court's decision and the possible power at any President's disposal. Just note who has been arrested in the past for trying to storm FBI offices and making death threats. It's not Democrats. And it's still going on today:flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:47 pmBut they are inciting an assassination. White Nebraska man shoots and wounds 7 Guatemalan immigrant neighbors
A white Nebraska man described as reclusive and confrontational shot and wounded seven neighbors who are Guatemalan immigrants, and investigators said they are not ruling out racist motives. About 15 people were at the victims’ home, mostly in the yard, when Billy Booth, 74, opened fire from his house in Crete with a shotgun around 4:30 p.m. Friday, officials said. Booth killed himself after the shootings. The victims, who are related and include four children ages 3 to 10, are expected to survive.
Booth largely kept to himself but had a history of conflict with his neighbors when he did interact with them, the Omaha World-Herald reported. Police previously received a complaint from the family that Booth had made an obscene gesture and told them to go back to where they came from and “speak English,” Crete Police Chief Gary Young said Saturday. The family did not press charges, he said.

Right. And when Trump said "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence!" He was inciting insurrection. Got it! I love how even-handed and unbiased the left is. And I missed in your little story where it indicated Booth's political affiliation.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 2:39 pmNo one is inciting an assassination. Re: In light of today's decision
BTW:
But the left, in their bullshit world, doesn't really recognise any kind of logic or restraint. Right mrkelley?Tier 1: Total Immunity for Constitutional Acts. “The President is absolutely immune from criminal prosecution for conduct within his exclusive sphere of constitutional authority.” This blessed tier is only for when a president exercises explicit authority under Article Two of the Constitution. Things like negotiating treaties, issuing pardons, and directing military operations. As you can imagine, this is a small, well-defined tier.
Tier 2: Presumptive Immunity for Official Acts. The Court declared that “the President must be immune from prosecution for an official act unless the Government can show that applying a criminal prohibition to that act would pose no dangers of intrusion on the authority and functions of the Executive Branch.” In short, if the President acts officially, as President, that act is immune—but a prosecutor can still proceed if they can show criminalizing that type of conduct will not hinder the Presidential office.
Tier Two answers the Democrats’ most deranged temper tantrums. Prosecuting Presidents who order the military to assassinate (i.e. murder) their opponents would not harm the Presidential office, because presidents are not supposed to murder people, and it wouldn’t hinder the Presidential office to criminalize murder. Duh.
Tier 3: No Immunity for Unofficial Acts. “The separation of powers does not bar a prosecution predicated on the President's unofficial acts. The first step in deciding whether a former President is entitled to immunity from a particular prosecution is to distinguish his official from unofficial actions.” For example, the Court said a President has zero immunity when he acts as the leader of his political party, or when pursuing his personal interests.
Actually, assassinating political rivals would probably fall squarely under Tier 3 — enjoying no immunity at all.

Trump had a lot of people in his administration who were traditional Republicans and curbed some of Trump's wilder suggestions. Even Bill Barr, with all his flaws, drew the line at some of the election interference Trump wanted. This time, he's going to surround himself with loyal yes-men and women who will do whatever he wants.tlynn78 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:48 pmKind of reminds me of the tantruming I saw when Trump beat Hilz in 2016. You live in bullshit world. Curbing his wilder suggestions = Sabotaged his administration. There is a reason the founders set up 3 branches of the federal government. Trump has and will honor those restrictions. The biden politburo and the swamp has shown innumerable times they won't and they don't.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:28 pmTrump had a lot of people in his administration who were traditional Republicans and curbed some of Trump's wilder suggestions. Had a guy in my office the day after that election pitching a fit when he couldn't get what he wanted; he literally stomped his feet and said, "..and DAMMIT, Trump should NEVER have been elected!"
Bless their hearts.
Trump now pretty much knows who are true patriots and who is beholden to the swamp. He will avoid having so many leakers, RINOs and traitors in his administration this time. A lot less 'anonymous sources' spreading lies and rumors. The state-controlled media conglomerate will have to be more creative and make things up out of whole cloth themselves.

Re: In light of today's decision
I asked point blank and he gave me a point blank answer. Didn't seem in any way sarcastic, facetious or humorous to me. And I know the difference. You take everything trump says literally, yet you think mrkelley was being facetious? You have proven so many times you have no clue. You have everything on record, and I have yet to see mrkelley back away from anything he posted.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:33 pmIt was pretty clear to me that mrkelley was being facetious here. It's also pretty clear to me that Trump will test the new limits to his power as soon as he gets back in the White House on January 20 if he's re-elected.mrkelley23 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:40 pmOf course, Democrats are way too big of cowards to actually do something to test this ridiculous decision, so it will never happen, but it's fun to speculate.
To the second statement I will just point out that you live in a bullshit world, and that is the epitome of the bullshit that's been peddled to you.

I wouldn't call someone whose idea of side-splitting humor is making fun of a politician of Indian descent's name an expert on humor.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:42 pmI asked point blank and he gave me a point blank answer. LOL. You really don't have any answer, do you? I'm not going down that road with you for the 50th time. And I won't even bring up your jailhouse comments. It's enough just to see you show what you do when backed into a corner with no answer.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:22 pmI wouldn't call someone whose idea of side-splitting humor is making fun of a politician of Indian descent's name an expert on humor.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:42 pmI asked point blank and he gave me a point blank answer. It's hard to "answer" someone who is so deep down the rabbit hole that he can't see anything except what Donald Trump tells him.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:28 pmLOL. If all you have left is to insult me, that's not anywhere near new. C'mon.
