The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late Saturday reversed a lower court’s ruling that halted a new state law allowing Texas police to arrest people suspected of crossing the Texas-Mexico border illegally.

A good day for demoracy loving and USA loving citizens, including legal immigrants. Not so much for others.

The Supreme Court (through Justice Alito) has stayed the Fifth Circuit's ruling. Given that this is Justice Alito's position, I suspect the full Court won't be particularly sympathetic to a state's efforts to make federal policy.

And to repeat myself, the Court completely avoided the issue of whether Donny engaged in insurrection. Its holding was merely that a state can't remove him from its ballot. The majority also stated in dicta that only Congress can make that decision, but because it's dicta, the opinion's statement to that effect aren't controlling. --Bob

How does this in any way even imply that she declared it not an insurrection? All nine justices agree that Colorado, or any other state, cannot delete anyone from the ballot. Period. There is no judgment as to whether it was or wasn't an insurrection.
