I know you have a hard on for Putin, but that didn’t seem to be the case in Afghanistan, or World War I.

Also, there’s nothing amusing about what’s going on in Ukraine

Get over yourself-it is a frickin' historical joke based on Napoleon and WW2. But for some reason-I knew some pedantic asshole would bring up WW1 and Afghanistan.

And as for nothing amusing about anything in the Ukraine-since combat soldiers have the best dark humor of anyone-I bet the Ukrainian (and Russian) combat soldiers have far better jokes than most professional comedians.

As it happens, President Zelensky is a professional comedian. Here he tells a joke about Russia:

Most of his war humor, like soldier’s jokes, is NSFW.

I was musing on this this morning and remembered the "Paratrooper's Hymn." Which I first ran across in 8th Grade in a trooper's memoir (Those Devils in Baggy Pants).

Not for the weak of stomach.

Then I was chuckling about Urriah the Hittite of David and Bathsheba fame-David knocked up Bathsheba and called Urriah (her husband) back to Jerusalem to sleep with her-but he didn't out of loyalty to his men.

I was picturing all the razzing in that unit. "Hey, you better have somebody keep an eye on your pretty wife when you are away"-then when he was called back to Jerusalem "Hey get some for us, you lucky bastard" -"They should send me instead-you won't know what to do anyway." etc etc

And yes-for all the pedantic assholes-I know that it wasn't announced that King David wanted Urriah to sleep with Bathsheba.
