13 GOP congresscritters have already voted against Gym Jordan as Speaker, and we're only at the Ms in the roll call.
A home for the weary.

Yep. Back to the election-denying, institution-torching clowns.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 10:04 pmMike Johnson from Louisiana is next up to bat. l predict he'll last longer in the position than Emmer did because they've gone home for the night. But be ready for some more fireworks around noon tomorrow.
Mike Johnson is Jim Jordan without his polarizing public image.
Thanks for sharing the far-left talking points. Do you take the truthfulness of those points for granted? If so, you personify the ignorance of the left. They tell you what to think, and you don't bother to question it.kroxquo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 6:53 pmMike Johnson, the new Speaker of the House, third in line for the Presidency:
-is in favor of a nationwide ban on abortion (whatever happened to abortion is an issue left up to the states?)
-is an opponent of LGBTQ Rights and believes that Obergefell v. Hodges should be overturned
-Voted to overturn the 2020 Presidential election
-Wants to end aiding Ukraine
-Would restrict medical marijuana
- Voted against expanding VA benefits to veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals during their service
-Believes climate change is not caused by human activity
-Believes that the Earth is only about 5,000 years old
This is the man that Republicans felt could unite their party. Make of that what you will.

I haven't had time to do this until this morning.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 7:58 pmThanks for sharing the far-left talking points. I would not expect Republicans to elect someone who agrees with everything I want anymore than you would expect Democrats to elect someone who agrees with everything you want. Hell, I wouldn't expect Democrats to elect someone who agrees with everything I want.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:26 pmWell, krox, thank you for presenting why a leftist democrat would be against Mike Johnson. I am sure all these things are appalling to you. Just as the platform of Hakeem Jeffries would be appalling to me. And the policies and actions of the Biden administration are appalling to me.
So, what's new? You want the Republicans to elect someone who agrees with everything you want? Like the policies you support are the only right and good way to go? I am happy because we got a speaker who looks like he won't give the democrats everything they want. I count it as a good thing. Deal with it.
It is regrettable that on all those points you list that anyone who disagrees with your perspective is a right-wing fanatic or a narcissistic megalomaniac or whatever. The left is led by the nose to believe their views on any issue is the ONLY correct view. Anyone who has a different point of view is an extreme right-wing lunatic. So don't listen to what they say, just call them by any of the increasing number of epithetical names they come up with on a daily basis. And it is increasingly obvious you have bought into that pattern of behavior. No, Mr. Johnson is not a right-wing fanatic, he only has a different perspective and different ideas for solutions that you are told to have. Deal with that.kroxquo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 3:43 pmI would not expect Republicans to elect someone who agrees with everything I want anymore than you would expect Democrats to elect someone who agrees with everything you want. My original point was that the Republicans have put in power a right-wing fanatic who is (by his words, not mine) homophobic, anti-science, anti-choice, and anti-free elections. This is the now the face of the Republican party in Congress. The fanatics have taken over the party just as much as you believe that "Leftists" have taken over the Democrats. For evidence, you need look no further than Liz Cheney, whose bona fides as a conservative are impeccable and yet is now persona non gratis within the party because she refuses to be in thrall to a narcissistic megalomaniac who is driving this country away from its founding principles. We are witnessing the death spiral of the Constitution. I hope you can deal with that.
