When some people pay less for loans due to their fraud, banks have to charge the rest of us more to break even. He’s lucky that he just has to pay a penalty. The banks are doing just fine. When they charge one borrower less, they have to charge other borrowers more to cover their expenses (paying interest to their depositors, operating expenses, and occasional loan defaults). That’s why the victim of this crime is the people of New York as a whole.

By that logic, only the banks other borrowers need be concerned about "covering" the shortfall. And no one is forcing them to borrow. The people of New York are paying far more for, say, Biden's failed border policies, but that won't whip up the base.

A New York appeals court has come to Trump's rescue. His bond has now been reduced to $175 million and he has an additional ten days to obtain the bond before the state can begin attaching his assets. If, as Trump claims, bonding companies want 120% of the bond in liquid collateral, Trump would have to pay the bonding fee, usually about 2-3% of the bond, and post over $200 million in collateral, to a company willing to underwrite the bond. And it would not be the same collateral he posted for the E. Jean Carroll appeal.

Trump goes one for two today in court. His hush money trial was reset for April 15, the date the prosecution suggested, rejecting defense claims that more time was needed to consider all the documents in the case.

Despite having to rewrite NY laws to even hear the case, and the fact that Carroll cannot even remember the date of the made-up incident, preventing Trump from possibly establishing an alibi, lying about the clothing she was supposedly wearing, and showing herself to be of questionable morals herself.

- Jack Smith continues to pursue a case about classified documents, when at least two other people have done the same thing, only worse, and have NOT been prosecuted.

- Fani Willis, of very questionable ethics herself, continues to pursue a fabricated case against her target and many others, which she coordinated with the current White House administration.

- Stormy Daniels, a washed up porn star, and another corrupt public official, pursue another wealth confiscation scheme against their target, even though Daniels publicly released a document in 2018 stating unequivocally that the 'event' this while case is based upon never happened.

All of these cases were pushed forward after Trump announced he would run in 2024. None of these things would have been brought forward if Trump decided not to run.
