Democrat Emily Gregory won a special election tonight in Donald Trump's home district in Florida (where Mar-a-Lago is located) by a 51-48% margin. The district voted for Trump by 11% in 2024 and had not elected a Democrat since the 1980s. Democrats also flipped a state senate seat in the Tampa area in another special election in a district that had voted for Trump by 7% in 2024.

For those keeping score, this makes 30 state legislative seats that Democrats have won from Republicans in special elections since the 2024 general election versus a total of zero seats that Republicans have won away from Democrats during that time.

And despite his oft-stated concerns about mail voting, Trump voted by mail in this election. So I guess he wasn't all that concerned about possible fraud.

But I generally agree with his basic platform positions and he actually does what he says he will do. I know I will not agree with ANY politician 100% of the time. But 70% is a good rate. But I'm curious how you got this one. Joe Biden got 81 million votes in 2020. Hillary got 65 million in 2016. (Even if you include 2024, Trump only got 77 million in 2024). So unless you're clinging to you multi, multi-times debunked rigged election theories, there's no way to deny these figures.

Actually, that's one of the most rational things the Democrats have done. Democrats don't have much leverage to get reforms in ICE, so they need to use what leverage they have. It definitely was before we got into the conflict with Iran. Many wars were stopped and averted by Trump's diplomatic efforts. The terrorists in Gaza have been defeated and there is finally a ceasefire there. And if the Iran conflict's goals are achieved, we will have a world that is incredibly safer than it ever was in this century.

Once again, whenever Flock gets in over his head, he searches Twitter until he finds some rando he can quote. But what you and he ignore ...

Trump was elected in 2024, but he was elected under the Constitution and subject to the limits on his powers that document imposes. We don't elect kings for four years. The constitution does not allow the President to sign Executive Orders to assume powers that were left to Congress. That's why Trump's tariffs were illegal. That's why this war is illegal (in addition to being incredibly stupid).

If Trump were merely a stupid President, we'd be stuck with his decisions, at the very least until November when the Democrats might be able to use Congressional majorities to impose greater limits on him. But he ignores all limits and acts as he pleases. And that's more than enough reason to vote Democratic, even for those who may have differences with specific economic policies.

Also, rounding up undocumented immigrants is not an excuse for masked, poorly trained goons to seize people in violation of their constitutional rights and hold them indefinitely in concentration camps. That's what they did in Nazi Germany (except the Germans weren't scared to show their faces). And the claim about 20 million illegal immigrants is false. The total number of undocumented immigrants in the country is roughly half that, and they arrived under every previous administration, including Trump I, not just Biden. And nearly half the total are people who entered legally but overstayed visas. So Biden didn't let in 20 million immigrants.

But facts never bother you. Instead, you're just happy to follow someone who can string together a whole bunch of lies on Twitter.

Trump was elected President, whether you like it or not. One of the things he campaigned on was closing the border and deporting the aliens that are in our country illegally. For MANY reasons. And it doesn't matter one bit WHEN they came here illegally. If they broke our laws to be here they must go back. If you have a problem with how he accomplishes that task, you need to blame the previous administrations that let them in this country in the first place, and who claimed they could not stop them. Trump stopped illegal crossings, without Congress, in just two months. NOT ONE ILLEGAL HAS GAINED ENTRY INTO THIS COUNTRY FOR ALMOST A YEAR!
