I don’t see why this is happening now other than Netanyahu thinks the current administration is going to let it happen. Iran has been threatening with nuclear weapons for decades now without intelligence suggesting things have dramatically changed.

My concern is that other power see this is an opportunity to stabilize everything. They can keep funding missiles to a wrong and they can keep being dropped on Tel Aviv.

Israel is an extremely small country and they were stupid to engage in ongoing missile fires with a country so much larger.

I think they’re betting that the far right in this country will push the president to intervene, though it’s actually not that clear to me that many people, like Tucker Carlson or Marjorie Taylor Greene, favor that.

In other words, I think Israel is trying to push us into a war that we didn’t ask for and I’m deeply unhappy with them.

I really have no idea what Trump will do since he is classically unpredictable at this point.

Iran's capabilities have improved significantly per new intelligence. Some don't believe the intelligence, but even so, Iran has been consistent in their attempts and public communication of their goals. If someone has consistently and believably threatened to kill me and they have a gun, and I'm not sure if they have a bullet in it, but they point it at me, I will use whatever resources I have to eliminate that threat, including deadly force. I won't wait until they shoot me to confirm any intelligence they had or did not have bullets.

You don't want stabilization in the region?

I guess you haven't been paying attention. Isreal has complete control over Iran's airspace. Iran's air force was outdated and inferior to Israel's. I'll take 7 million people, all with military service, with 40 F-35s, 200 F-16s, 75 F-15s against over 90 million people with only 500,000 military people using F-4, F-14 and Mig 29s, who in the past has resorted to tying explosives on children as part of their arsenal.

I do concur with you here, but Iran is a sworn enemy of this country and will resort to any means to hurt us. It is best we take the opportunity to "stabilize" them.

Some of that was a typo about stabilization. I’m worried about further destabilization.

If Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, then Saudi Arabia or somebody else could get involved.

The United States getting occupied in the Middle East could lead to issues in Ukraine or Taiwan, causing further problems.

My other concern is that Tulsi Gabbard, who granted is an idiot, said to Congress, two months ago, there was no evidence of increasing gains being made by the Iranian nuclear program.

I feel that Netanyahu wants to create a problematic situation that forces us to intervene. We would be going alone - as evidences by our departure from the G7 early.

I also think that Iranians are not likely to topple their government if they think doing so will help Jews AND the United States.

I think if America stayed hands off, and we seem to be well past that point, there might be some theoretical argument for us as an honest broker here.

But if I was Iranian right now, why would I do what the United States or Israel is suggesting?

Iran is run by truly irrational and morally bankrupt lunatics. See my comments about using children as weapon delivery systems.

It's interesting that there seems to be a divide among MAGAland folks as to whether the US should do any such thing.

Amazingly interesting, since most of us tend to think for ourselves rather than be told by the party what to think. Sometimes there will be a split on issues that are complex.

OK. Though why you would want ifonly's opinion on anything is beyond me. It will all come down to that if you disagree with him you want to oppress brown people in some way or another.

What are you talking about? Just like the sun rising, as soon as it was learned that a Minnesota legislator was assassinated, someone waltzed in here and said that it was the fault of Tim Walz, because Twitter told them to say that.

Anyway, your lack of thoughts about the actual subject at hand is telling.

I know this will be laughed at but I'd like to suggest prayers for our country and humanity in general.
Not laughing. I am praying with you on that. I don't know what the right answer is re Iran and Israel. And it doesn't really matter what I think. I just pray whatever does happen is for the best.

Our differences aside, I concur with your statement. I, too, am praying for our nation, our president, and the others involved in the tough decision.

Well, he decided to drop the bombs on Iran after all. Now we get to worry about the aftermath - not only for troops abroad, but for terrorist acts here at home.

I wouldn’t be as worried about terroristic act at home if our borders hadn’t been so porous the last four years.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
