Considering Separation of Church and State
I am laughing about the millions and millions (possibly hundreds of millions and maybe more) that are fed to groups like Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services and such.
I guess concerns about the separation of church and state go out the window when a group is funneling illegals into the country as fast as possible.
Hell, Bishop Budde's groups got 53 million. Maybe she is not as pure as the wind-driven snow she went after Trump. She might have had a little conflict of interest.

She asked him to show mercy to marginalized groups. How on earth is that "going after" him?

Re: Considering Separation of Church and State
Just another example of how completely post Christian the Trump movement is.
The same folks will absolutely demand their churches get a tax break, but if it turns out some other church actually helps the poor? Well, it must be some big scam, to have churches *actually practice* Christianity.
But we knew that. He is easily the sleaziest person ever to have been elected president, and the worst if you’re going based on the criteria that Jesus discussed about those who go to heaven and those who don’t.

Here are a few facts that may be helpful here, for those who have not done their own research.Spock wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:53 amI am laughing about the millions and millions (possibly hundreds of millions and maybe more) that are fed to groups like Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services and such.

1. While Lutheran Services of America was created by the ELCA, it now is a separate organization. In Nebraska, it is Lutheran Family Services.
2. Lutheran Services provides services regardless of faith or denomination of those requesting help.
3. The primary services provided revolve around mental heath and substance abuse. It also assists with adoption, foster care, and resettlement of refugees legally admitted into the United States, in other words — services to assist families during formation and then during their lowest points of need.

Catholic Charities privileges straight couples in their adoption approval process. Philadelphia objected, and the courts ruled they have the right to do so. If the government gives money to a religious group for charity work, they can insist that it serves people of all religions, but they can’t make the church’s beliefs conform to a political ideology (either liberal or conservative).

The government should not be in the business of charity.jarnon wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:06 pmCatholic Charities privileges straight couples in their adoption approval process. Medicaid is charity. Are you saying that poor people should have healthcare? Speak the evil, if you mean itflockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:43 amThe government should not be in the business of charity.jarnon wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:06 pmCatholic Charities privileges straight couples in their adoption approval process.
