Weyoun, a serious question, no personal crap. Do you agree with Israel's direction?

I’m actually not as opposed to this as I am what is going on in Gaza. In Gaza, they obviously completely out arm Hammas. They’ve managed to bomb a bunch of people without getting the hostages back. Arguably, this latest action is partly to distract from their failure in Gaza.

But it does seem to be well targeted against an awful organization that has hijacked an entire country. They are essentially a proxy army for Iran, and I’m always happy to see Iran hurt, though there is always the caution of this becoming a larger war.

And in terms of a justification under international law, Hezbollah has launched how many thousand rockets against Israel? All they’ve done is made everything worse. If they can be taken out, it would be better both for Israel and Lebanon.

So I support it, up into the point this becomes another thing where it seems like they’re just killing a bunch of civilians and not actually getting to the leadership

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully it won't be a wider war than it is.

I'm not sure I agree with you re Gaza. Since Oct 7 and all it's hard to let that go. It's messy and awful and people have died. It's war. Right next door.

According to Ben Shapiro, whom I'm sure Ifonly thinks is stupid, Israel could have taken out Nazrallah last October, but Biden stopped him.

Israel has a lot of advanced weapons that Iran and its proxies do not have. That is being shown in the different way it is fighting Hezbollah. That is what is holding Iran back. They know it. Israel's retaliation for the Iran rocket barrage was to send a missile very close to Iran's nuclear facilities as a demonstration. Apparently, Iran never even saw it coming. These weapons could not have been used in Gaza. That was a different situation.

So this time, instead of telling Biden they were going after Nazrallah, Netanyahu came to New York, and launched the attack while he was speaking at the UN. That , combined with the pagers, and the taking out of a lot of Hezbollah's arsenal, has crippled them. And all this time, Biden and Harris's 'strategy' (to appease their base in Michigan) has accomplished zero, nada.

If most of Israel is against Netanyahu, they can dissolve their government on any given day, unlike here, where we have to wait 4 years, or in the case of democrats, whenever they realize their candidate is senile and won't win But they haven't, and they won't, because they know they are in a fight for their lives as a nation. It is only the American left, and the hardcore leftists in Israel, that are against Netanyahu.

I believe they are still 110 hostages who are not accounted for. In other words, they’re dead. there really hasn’t been any sign that the campaign has done anything to free the hostages or get Hamas to concede anything. I maintain that the action was done to get Israel to launch a disproportionate response. That would’ve caused Israel and the United States to suffer internationally and undo the Abraham Accords, all of which happened.
