Hey wb, do you agree?
You realize that the article was written in 2019, when she was running against a number of other Democrats. Granted, she hasn't disavowed it as yet, and may not, but until she makes a statement one way or the other, I'll withhold my opinion.

Of course I realize that. Just curious if she carries through with it. You, and I mean, y'all, with due respect to you, peeps who think us "right leaning" folks don't understand timelines. Yes, it was 2019. Many other things are dredged up for all candidates.
Please. So annoying.

In fairness, Trump began his campaign in 2016, so anything after that should be fair game.

Harris didn’t express opinions in 2017? Wasn’t involved in politics? Who she is didn’t start on 2019.

Who she’s told to be started a month or so ago, though.

Of course she did - she ran for attorney general in California, and later for the Senate, so I'm sure there's a lot that could be dug up.

Harris was never a "border czar" as the right-wing media have tried to portray her. She was tasked by Biden with going to countries from which immigrants were coming and seeking ways to improve conditions in order to slow or stop migration.

That was part of her role, yes, but it was explained in a broader sense back when.

But even IF this were all she was tasked to do, it show the complete ineptnes of Biden and her in how to resolve problems. In essense we are handing out entry into the US, benefits, citizenship for offspring, and everything else and they think the problem can be resolved by improving conditions in the home countries? If it would have any impact it would only slow the flow and productive people.

Put simply, you're offering people $1,000s to come here illegally and you go to their home country to see it they might offer their folks $10 to stay.

No, she wasn't, flock. The right-wing media coined that phrase, but she was never given the authority that such a title implies by the administration.

Improving conditions in Central American countries would go a long way toward "slowing the flow" of immigrants. It can never be completely stopped, border wall or no border wall. Reducing crime and providing better jobs are never a bad idea.

Washington Post, April 2021:
Republicans try to crown Harris the ‘border czar.’ She rejects the title.
Harris’s mission, as directed by Biden, is to meet with heads of state and other officials to tackle the enduring problems, including poverty and violence, that spur people south of the U.S. border with Mexico to migrate to the United States. She is also being briefed by an array of experts on policies that affect the flow of migrants.

But administration officials, from the president down, have stressed that she is not responsible for dealing with the surge of migrants at the border, including the record number of unaccompanied minors.

That distinction might be lost on voters, however. And that may be what Republicans are counting on.

Regardless of terminology her charter was pointless. How was she capable of changing ingrained poverty, crime, drug cartels, general malaise and all around crud?

Seriously.

Biden on March 24 made Harris the nation’s point person to address the root causes of the migration north. Officials said her main goal would be to slow the flow of migrants by working with countries to address the reasons their citizens leave home in the first place. Harris was directed to strengthen relationships with Mexico and the Northern Triangle countries — Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — to stem the tide.
Did a marvelous job, whatever the job title was.

OK, I did a simple search. Almost every link indicates that it was Republicans who began calling her "border czar'. Why? In order to blame her for a situation over which she had no control.

A simple search will show you it wasn't a right wing media label Ear. C'mon man, why would "right wing media" give her an elevated title? Set that aside and pretend what you claim is 100% of the truth. How'd that work out?
OK, I did a simple search. Almost every link indicates that it was Republicans who began calling her "border czar'. Why? In order to blame her for a situation over which she had no control.
Ear, she was a point person on this critical subject. You know full well semantically czar, tsar, point person are the same. Help us all.
Well, then

Again, Harris’s particular responsibility was limited to improving conditions in Central America to reduce incentives to migrate.
And there are signs that migration from the region is now slowing. The number of Guatemalans encountered at the southwestern border last month (11,485) was the second-lowest since November 2020. The number of Hondurans (8,896) was the lowest over the same period. Overall, the proportion of migrants encountered at the US border who are citizens of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador has dropped from 49 percent (March 2021) to 18 percent (June 2024).
OTOH, Biden and Harris have plenty to answer for:

Because the ended “remain in Mexico” and the coronavirus emergency border restrictions with no workable strategy.
