Got to hear Walz boo'ed today at Farmfest-a regional farm show-equipment and whatnot in southwestern Minnesota. Candidate forums are also a feature.

He was slated to be there tomorrow-he attends every year-but that will likely change this year.

He is not popular with the Farmfest crowd.

I read this before I logged in so I saw it. Actually, I largely agree with you. I vehemently detest big parts of the mindset of my profession which is one reason why I have joined some Democrat leaning agricultural groups. They haven't been wrong about everything.

As far as the Farmfest crowd-Walz is detested by far more than farmers in outstate Mn. Even out here, farmers are a small percentage of the population-but the "Red/Blue" county map for the Walz 2022 re-election basically looks like it would for any other Democrat. And that was with a very poor Republican candidate.

He is detested out here, by more than farmers in ways that I have never seen for any other politician.

Not sure how much help he will be in flipping rust belt counties from Red to Blue in other states when he can't even do it in his own state.

Sorry, thought I replied to this already. I've finally been able to catch up on the Minneapolis story, and it does sound like Walz could have moved a smidge faster. I'm sure he learned from it.

I've tried to ask a version of this before, but are there any Ds she could have chosen that would not have drawn a wave of criticism? Or is the problem that they are Ds? He seems very moderate to me, landing smack in the middle of voting records in Congress (not in the middle of Ds but in the middle of everyone).

I don't recall claiming to be unbiased. I actually wrote a graduate school concluding project 15 years ago, arguing that we are all biased, and we must account for that the best we can in our various jobs.

But if I somewhere did make that claim, I was wrong to do so.

I am trying to muddle through and to find positivity where I can. Whatever that bias is, I definitely have it.

I'm a wire editor, copy editor and page designer in sports. My moral choices are about how to feature underrepresented groups in sports, and when to use a straight-up-the-middle story and when to use one that comes more from a position of a specific team (I label those Commentary, so it's clear they are opinion rather than facts).

My project was on how journalists do have biases, and they must struggle with them every day, but we cannot dismiss them. It's unrealistic to expect people not to have a slant, though the best do find ways to set them aside.

I met several people this week at my elections board (applying to work at an early voting site), and was blown away by how well they disguise their personal stances.

I wish more of us believed in the best of each other, rather than always tearing people down.

Price controls have been a complete disaster every time they have been tried. But what the hell? I think Kamala knows how to do it better than anyone else in history.
