Given probably that even devout RC'ers only have to know the name Benedict to pray for, along with the local bishop, the auxiliary bishop, the retired bishop, and so on..., the list of popes with their birth names is a bit obscure but comes up every so often. Outside the beaten path. I will post my doggerel version of Adeste Fideles, presently. I only have one verse so it only goes back to the 1920's.

OK, everybody hum the first note......

The O of O Come All Ye Faithful

First Ratti, then Pacelli.

Before them Della Chiesa

Then Roncalli and Montini and Luciani

Then Kaaroool Wojtyla. then after: An Italian?

OR Maybe a Nigerian: NO! It was a Bavarian

Habemus Papam!

Corrsponding to Pius XI, Pius XII, Benedict XV, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI

I want to see David Cook sing this on "American Idol" for the finale.

Hey it's better than the cheesy original songs they make the final 2 sing!!
