March 1968 non sequiturs

#1 Post by etaoin22 » Fri Feb 22, 2008 10:16 pm

LBJ quit at the end of the month.

I had fixed up an old tube radio with tubes I could still buy at the drugstore at the shopping center (didnt call them "malls" yet in Canada), not that difficult, mostly looking through the long list of alphanumeric tube designations, once you figured out which one was gone.

It picked up WJR and WABC like the dickens.

The Tigers were obviously up to something very special in spring training, and the broadcasters felt it.

Interestingly, best young pitcher that spring was Les "Sugar" Cain IIRC, and I dont know whatever happened to him..

I was sure I would never, ever have a boyfriend and that nobody liked me.

I tried out for cheerleading and was rejected.

I hoped that once I turned 13, life would alter.

I was at Everett High and trying to get over a pixie haircut.
Well, then

In Sept of this year I was bitten by a german shepard so badly that I coould not walk for 2 weeks or go to school for a month.

But I began swimming as therapy, something I have continued to enjoy

I was still wearing diapers, or was not born yet, depending on how old I feel.

I was in 5th grade. This would be about the time when Charlie R. asked me if I knew what a Trojan was. I said, yeah, it's that wooden horse that those guys hid in.

Nowadays a 1st grader would laugh at that answer.

So, there were no Underoos involved yet? Just regular ol' unnerwears?
Well, then

Wasn't there a movie, where some high school student told an adult that condoms were for filling up and using to scare off squirrels.

I think that it was Summer of '42.

I don't think Underoos had been invented yet. That's why I had to make up for my deprived childhood.

Before anyone says it, that's deprIved, not deprAved.
