You have notebooks too?

I thought lb was the obsessive one on the Bored.

:P

No notebooks, but I do have one anal-retentive quality...all of my media (books, CDs, DVDs) must be in alphabetical order (by author, artist, and title, respectively), and I must watch the DVDs at least once a year...so doing it alphabetically makes the most sense.

FTR, tho, I skip the TV on DVD sets, and do those at the end. 10 seasons of "The Simpsons," the complete "Monty Python's Flying Circus," four seasons of "Entourage" and 2 1/2 of "Arrested Development" are rather time consuming...

Its New Orleans and Fargo.

Background:

Most cities switched their streetcars to the rounded, metal sided appearance, known as the PCC car, in the forties. The older wooden cars, which were usually "home-made" usually disappered. So New Orleans is pretty unique. It is a small part of the film, but shows how much the Coen brothers will do for mood.

Fargo.

As for me as a kid, i used to see the statues of Bunyan and Babe, in Bemidji on US 2 on the annual summer trek to Winnipeg, before Highway 17 from SS-Marie to Thunder Bay became easy to drive. I was a little surprised to find that Brainerd had a bigger tourist thing with Bunyan that Bemidji, when I first saw Fargo.

I will post Q5 for credit and Q6 for fun all at once. B team is up by 4.

Q5 - SIC TRANSIT

G-L-O-R-I-A. Betya Simon does not know that one either. But that is not the point for tonight...

B - Film directors continue to show long-distance trains -- by which I mean trains going a stop or two after Poughkeepsie, and even beyond Schenectady, to places like Chicago or LA.-- leaving this New York landmark. In real life the long-distance trains aint there anymore.

G - What classic make and model of aircraft does Ingrid appear to be ready to get into, but not Bogie, at the end of Casablanca?

Q6-EXTRA- CLOSING CREDITS.

B - Whose version of "My Way' closes "Goodfellas" credits?

G --Dusty overwhelms me with "The Look of Love", in the soundtrack to this "outlier"movie, but I did not know, or perhaps, remember, until I watched its closing credits a few weeks ago.....

that the title theme song has lyrics!

The hit version was a rousing vigorous instrumental for Herb Alpert, and Brass and all.

Actually, they don't. I believe that the Coen brothers moved the statue to Brainerd for the movie (at least, my colleague who grew up in Minnesota told me that), youbetcha. Maybe it was the one from Bemidji.

Q5 - SIC TRANSIT

B - Grand Central Station?
G - Lockheed Elektra

Q6-EXTRA- CLOSING CREDITS.

B - Sid Vicious
G -- Casino Royale

BTW -- The only reason I can even guess at Q5-G is that Boonie is a plane buff. I would not have known enough to guess a year ago.

Q5:

B: Grand Central Terminal

G: NFC, and I love that movie. I'll guess the Boeing 777.

Q6:

B: Crap...I haven't gotten to the Gs yet! It's a punk version, is all I remember... The Ramones?

G: Casino Royale (the original)? I know "The Look of Love" was used in it, and the theme is by Herb Alpert...

He is enjoying it a lot.

And with good reason....it's great stuff.

I got it for $50 about a year ago, at Best Buy (on sale)....and watched the whole thing in one long bender (OK, it was 3 days, a holiday weekend). Can't wait to revisit it in about another 6 months or so.

Q6

G I can hear her singing the song, NFC to the movie. A Bond movie? Not likely I guess.

On another totally unrelated note, I've been considering picking up a best-of compilation of Dusty Springfield on iTunes, and was struck by how few had one of my favorite songs of hers on it: "Son of a Preacher Man". Then I rememberd that I ALREADY HAVE that song, thanks to the soundtrack of "Pulp Fiction"....

So I'll have to remember to download it tomorrow, before I head to the movies...

Answers and thanks to all!

Q5

B - Grand Central Station.

They tore down the proper Pennsylvania Station in the Sixties. Then they put IIRC the current version of Madison Square Garden on top. (circa end of 1967). The fates thumbed their noses IIRC by allowing a big mail fire at the Farley (?) building down the street.

All makes no sense...

So the intercity Amtrak trains basically all leave from a basement terminal, not very photogenic, while Grand Central Station is one of the marvels of the city. And enough room for film crews.

G - Douglas DC-3. Except as I am now checking, one reference says it was a half-size mockup with midgets. And so Ingrid didnt actuallt get all the way in....
I've never heard this one, but who knows?

Q6
B - Sid Vicious.
G - Casino Royale (first version , non Sean Connery IIRC no Broccoli involved. The Herb Alpert theme rocks, still)

I thought I read that the plane at the end of Casablanca was a model but exceedingly realistic.
