Posting a URL using text

#1 Post by tanstaafl2 » Sat Nov 10, 2007 11:20 am

Instructions on how to post a URL with text instead of the full URL as a sticky would be nice. I am always forgetting how.

Or maybe add it to the FAQ?

Inside the first square-bracketed "url" add "=http://etc", close the square bracket, type in the text you want to have displayed instead, then use the second square-bracketed "/url" as usual.

I tried it that way with Hamilton Jordan's obit -- didnt' work :(

Trying again:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap_ ... ordan Obit

ETA: Nope.

Again:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap_ ... ordan Obit

ETA: I dunno....do you need the "=" sign?
=http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap ... ordan Obit

ETA: Apparently that's not it either. Can anyone clarify?

Like this:

Jordan Obit

Instead of what you put:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap_ ... bit_jordan]Jordan Obit

Take that bracket that is bolded after the first "url" and make it an equals sign, "=" and it should work.

If you quote my reply it will show you the change I made.

Thanks Tan!

Practicing:

Jordan Obit

OK, that worked.

*Some* boreds open up a little window for URLs where you paste the link and then type in the text. But this works too!
