I found a website today called, PaperBackSwap. Has anyone used it?

Looks interesting. We have a wall of books collecting dust. I'll have to check it out with GW tonight to see if there's anything we want on the lists.

I went ahead and signed up last night. Now I just have to pick out 10 of my babies, er, books that will be making the list.
I read that there is a rewards system where you get free credits if you recommend people. If your friends/family end up signing up, make sure to give them your user name so that you can receive credit.
Edited to add: I also read that it isn't just paperback books. That was good news to me.

That looks really cool. I have been donating books to local libraries about once a year. I don't have the space for them, but I spend a lot of money on them so it would be cool to get something back.
For those of you who travel often enough, there are some airport stores that do read it and return it...where you buy the book and you can take it back to any of the associated stores in other airports, within 6 months, and get 1/2 your money back! I like that deal too.

You list the books you have available, and when a "match" is made you are notified by email. You then print out a mailing label to affix to your package and send it off. The recipient is charged for the shipping, and you get points. Redeem your points for books you want, and the postage comes out of your account. I've sent off a bunch of books, and received ones I wanted to read.

We have a local "Paperback Shack" that swaps books. I can take in a sack-full, and leave with a new sack-full, and it only costs about $10.... hardly the cost of 1 or 2 books new.
When I went in to get a bunch before I had surgery this summer, I mentioned to the lady that I needed lots of reading for while I was recuperating. She told me that if I ran out of books to let them know and she would deliver more! Said no one should be without books. What service!!!

I keep most of my books.
I am starting to amortize the cost a bit because Maddie has been reading my books.
I don't mind loaning them to her because she is very picky about how her books look.
Just like me she hates loaning out books to friends because she worries about them taking proper care of the books.
