The Republican Party Platform, adopted last month:

"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself."

By the way, apparently McCain has made an advertising buy in Indiana. --Bob

That's inappropriate.

The first part of my post is entirely policy-based, simply letting the party's words speak for themselves. The second part yields an inference about what the candidates' internal polling is telling them (which, by the way, may be of some assistance to those playing the Pick the President game). Neither was in any way ad hominem.

If you don't like political news that's bad from your perspective, don't click on threads overtly labeled as political. --Bob

I thought you were talking about my investment career from the thread title. I'm almost feeling extinct. I went to a seminar last week by a group that had 200 attendees last year at the same location. The big turnout last week was a mere 25! I think the Feds should put financial professionals on the endangered species list. All for now, back to pushing my shopping cart back and forth down Jamboree Boulevard.... :(

Hold on to that shopping cart - you'll need it to push around your hyperinflated dollars.

Potential correction: The McCain campaign denies that it plans such a buy. The reported ad buy may be coming from the RNC. --Bob

flock, I think you were rude here. BobNumbers may have been poking with a pointy stick, but it's a valid poke. We may counter that we wouldn't have needed the bailouts if things had been handled better in the past, but there's little doubt that the current proposed bailouts run counter to the Republican platform. Of course, all that really proves is that George W. Bush is not really a Conservative or even a good Republican.

On Indiana-not a surprise if true-

It has been listed as a prominent Obama target all year-Sometimes listed as a toss-up even yet. Proximity to Chicago may play a role-

Also keep in mind-Easy to send buses of voters across the border to Gary on Election Day.

Prediction-lots of precincts with 100% plus turnout in Gary.

a conservative with someone elses checkbook is an officeholder

I've been paying attention to government since 1980ish, I havent seen anyone govern as a "conservative".I think your definition should change to align with reality.

Most of the money behind Schaeffer in Colorado is RNC money. Looks like they've decided the NM Udall is hopeless, they're going after the CO Udall.

Or he may end up pushing a whole train of carts very soon. I need a new trainee....
