I surmise that the clock enables TPTB to time the show much more accurately than in years past. There's a way to test my hypothesis, and I think you can answer without fear of any sort of spoilage.

On the day you taped, how many carryover contestants were there from the previous taping? Thanks. --Bob

There was one carryover contestant from the previous week. Although...I think she just hadn't had the chance to play at all. I don't think she'd "carried over" from previous game play.

I think Bob's just trying to get an estimate of how many contestants would be in line for their turn before today's group starts playing. From that, he can estimate the likelihood of TexasMommy getting into the Hot Seat today.

I think my experience will skew the results because my scheduled tape day was just the 3rd taping date of the new season/new rules. So I think they were trying to figure out their throughput. That said, my scheduled tape date was a Friday, the first tape date was a Wednesday - everyone scheduled to tape on Thursday did not get to play on Thursday, if I recall and understood correctly, the person who continued the game on Friday was a Wednesday player, so we had the entire Thursday group in front of us.

My guees is that they have figured out how to schedule so that most of the people scheduled for day X will play day X.

But that is based on no other data then what appears to be all subsequent HS's getting in the seat on their assigned taping date.

Perhaps so, but I was asked to remain available until 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. I hope that TexasMommy thinks to give me a buzz should she be released before then without taping. --Bob

On mine, I think there were either 3 or 4 contestant who carried over, they hadn't gotten to the hot seat on their date.

I posted under Bob's "On the Clock" previous post but I will answer here, too. Of the four hold-overs (including myself) that will play tomorrow, three were new contestants today and we were told that there would be someone else put in as a hold over with us tomorrow who evidently came several weeks ago but didn't get to play that day, and, for whatever reason, is coming tomorrow. We also had two hold overs who played today that were here a couple of months ago and didn't get to play on their day either. They didn't say, but my guess is that it was right before Meredith was leaving to cover the Olympics so they had to ask them to come back later.

Bob, I will call you when I'm out tomorrow if I didn't use you as my PAF. I have a nice variety of topics covered between the three of you, so it will just depend on the question, obviously, as to which one of you I choose. Thanks again!
