5th Grader thread

Meh. I watched it Friday and can barely remember what happened with it.

The mother of quints finished her run and walked away with $175K. I think we saw the first example of the "workbooks" helping one of the 5th Graders know the right answer, in 4th Grade Astronomy:
The sun is the brightest star we can see during the day. What is the brightest star we can see in the night sky?
The contestant answered "Venus" and then was saved by Olivia's answer, which was "the Dog Star". Now, Jeff had already said that was a correct answer, but do students really get taught that name instead of "Sirius"? I imagine it's much easier to remember if you're cramming before the show begins, though.

Second contestant was a dentist. Along with the regular class, he had five of his dental hygienists show up as a guest class. Their answers made the 5th graders look brilliant!

He also walked, with $175K.

A full transcript of the questions from the 5th Grader board:

I didn't watch but my friend Mr. Tivo did.

Speaking of Tivo I watched the celebrity edition of the show from last week and I am sure this was discussed earlier whilst I was otherwise engaged in Texas.

But I couldn't believe how easy the Qs were for Kathy Cox on her way to the million, even for this show. At least the Q Kathy Ireland walked on was pretty tough.

But every other question shown that night was a huge softball.

They've really been giving away a lot of money this season. 1 Million on their first episode of their new season and now two people won 175,000.

I wonder what kind of budget this show has. I wonder how much money is too much for them to give away.

I hardly remember the episode but I'm pretty sure I knew the answer to one of the two contestant's 300,000 dollar questions. It was asking what was Lewis's first name (from Lewis and Clark, the explorers). I knew the answer was Meriweather. I was surprised that they didn't know I thought it was common knowlege (when I say common I mean common to educated and avid trivia fans)

Those are not the contestants they cast for this show. :|

Everyone knows Clark's first name was Lewis. Just like that explorer dude - Stanley Livingstone.

And didn't they make a show about Lewis & Clark - I think Clark had some sort of superpowers and was from some noble planet named Neon and had a brother who was involed in some sort of matrix. Maybe it was from another nobel planet, it was all pretty kryptic.

I'm not sure about Meriweather - didn't she play Cat Woman and was married to a civil war general.

History is so confusing.
