you know that old saying...

...don't shoot the messenger?

Well, they shot the messenger.

I just got back from a meeting regarding our contracting database system and general IT questions. I might as well have gone in there with a big bullseye on my chest because I was the target for a lot of unhappiness, none of which is my doing. I stand, however, bleeding but unbowed.

Well why didn't you fix it last week? :P

Isn't all that the responsibility of the highly efficient off-site contractor?

Yeah, that's sort of the gist of the meeting - although really their complaints are about the new IT organization (the one I've mentioned - private company doing all the computer buys and tech support). It's as if the people in the meeting hadn't heard all the things I (and others) have been saying about this - they don't want to have centralized notebook PCs for checking out for TDY or other reasons, they don't want to have centralized printing (some people will have to give up their desktop printers), and the list goes on. With respect to the contracting database they can't understand why they can't be given access to run reports that can only be run by the administrator (requiring full admin rights). Don't I trust them? [NO] And so it goes.

You are like the polotician once descibed by Sir Winston Churchill

A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen

I am sorry you got the brunt of something not your doing. It's bad enough when it is your doing.

Hope you can clean yourself up, come back tomorrow and make things better.

If not, you can borrow my favorite phrase and use it on all of them.

I am very sorry.

I'm sorry as well. Don't let it spoil your 4 day weekend.
