new dwarf planet classified

On September 17 the International Astronomical Union classified a body in the Kuiper Belt, (136108) 2003 EL61 (nicknamed "Santa"), as a dwarf planet and named it Haumea after the Hawaiian goddess of childbirth and fertility. Haumea is the fifth dwarf planet to be so designated. It has two moonlets named Hi'iaka and Namaka, after two of Haumea's daughters in Hawaiian mythology.

Well, at least part of that will be easy to remember as Hi'iaka is my girlfriends Hawaiian name.
Then again she has more than her fair share of names so it might not be so easy to remember...

Indeed I am!
For the moment...
Nothing brewing in the Gulf or the Atlantic at the moment so this weekend looks safe! Although there is a little something trying to stir things up in the Windward islands. Hopefully this will be my first weekend off since August.
Who knows about next weekend...
In addition to people in Texas and possibly even still Lousiana we had a team in Haiti. Not sure if they are still there.
If you think South Texas is in bad shape, and parts of it certainly are, just be glad you aren't living in Haiti...
