Rivendell is still the home to some of the 139,000 people still without electricity here in Greater Derbytown, making it the 5th day since the power went out. The repair crews are getting closer - the restaurants a mile from our house have power. If we don't get our electricity restored we're gonna have to find a laundromat because clean clothes are running out. We spent the dwindling daylight hours yesterday washing down the refrigerator with disinfectant and putting boxes of baking soda in both it and the freezer to deal with any lingering odors caused by the food we had to throw away (elwing had gone to the grocery store on Saturday and stocked up). The local newspaper reports that a lot of people on food stamps were facing problems since they couldn't afford eating out and their food had had to be thrown away; the commonwealth is replacing these families' food stamps. Schools in the community are closed for the rest of the week.

I admire the way you are dealing with it all.

I hear no whining in your posts.

I tip my hat.

Thanks. elwing helps me keep my perspective, and when I come here and read about rayxtwo being flooded out and the problems with the BBs in Texas, it's not hard to realize that my misfortune is temporary and bearable.

My mom's power is still out as well. My sister has hers back on and she was able to salvage the frozen food out of Mother's freezer.

It gets old after a day or two, doesn't it? I sincerely hope you and my mom both get power today!!
