GW was pissed when I got home last night. This huge chunk of metal casing was on the front of our yard next to the street, right where GW had some flowers and a rose bush which had required some careful nurturing just to get it growing well in the first place. The workers had dug up the flowers and bush to make room for the casing. It didn't look like they had made a great effort to get roots, especially from the bush. Then they nearly hit the row of dug-up flowers with the casing anyway.
This morning, between when GW left and I left, a monstrous digging apparatus came clanking up to my house. Think life-sized Tonka toy. No tires. Tank treads. It picked up the casing and put it in the road. Right opposite my driveway. I guess they knew what they were doing, because I did have enough room to get out, but it sure didn't look like it when they first dropped it back down. Our cats are probably under the bed, hiding from the noise as the work is being done.
I hope we return tonight to find the flowers, etc., back where they were. I have a dinner meeting, though, and won't find out unless GW is so pissed about it that she calls me.
