by Here's Fanny!
Everybody loves a winner, right? Then how come the Grammys' Best New Artist Category seems to be a running joke? It's got a bad rap, for every Milli Vanilli, there's a Carpenters.

So, what do you say to a nice little Best New Artist Timeline? Naw, the Grammys are much more fun that that! Let's do a Reverse Triple Timeline! Who's with me? That's the spirit! However, since it's only Wednesday, I'll give you a couple of Wells and no Bogies. Cause I'm sweet like that.

I'll give you the Grammy year, you select the Best New Artist and Record of the Year from their respective Wells. And you'll get more points for figuring out the artist who received the latter award! Please put your bolded answers under the year and add the artist to the Record. For example:

1. 2007
Amy Winehouse
Rehab - Amy Winehouse

Scoring: 5 points per BNA, 5 points per ROY, 3 points per ROY artist. Points possible including TWO bonuses at 10 per: 150

Reverse Triple Timeline - September 17

"Looking for a Pan in Which to Flash"

1. 1962

2. 1965

3. 1975

5. 1985

6. 1989

7. 1993

8. 1998

9. 2004

Bonus #1: Who received the very first Best New Artist, awarded in 1960?

Bonus #2: The Record of the Year in 1966 had the same name as the Best New Artist in 1979. Coincidence? I don't know. What was the name they shared?

Reverse Triple Timeline - September 17

"Looking for a Pan in Which to Flash"

1. 1962

Peter Nero
Moon River - Henry Mancini

2. 1965

The Beatles
The Girl from Ipanema - Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto

Astrud Gilberto was just a 'backup' vocalist on the Getz/Gilberto album and did not receive the Grammy. I didn't count off for putting her down, but she got no points. 2 points for just Stan Getz (nobody got Joao Gilberto).

3. 1975

Marvin Hamlisch
I Honestly Love You - Olivia Newton-John

Best New Artist for playing 75 year old music for a movie soundtrack. At least he didn't lip synch, ha!

4. 1977

Starland Vocal Band
This Masquerade - George Benson

5. 1985

Cyndi Lauper
What's Love Got to Do With It - Tina Turner

6. 1989

Tracy Chapman
Don't Worry, Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin

7. 1993

Arrested Development
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

I didn't realize Tears in Heaven was 15 years old until I really thought about it.

8. 1998

Paula Cole

Bonus #1: Who received the very first Best New Artist, awarded in 1960?

Bobby Darin

Bonus #2: The Record of the Year in 1966 had the same name as the Best New Artist in 1979. Coincidence? I don't know. What was the name they shared?

A Taste of Honey

Congrats to Nelly and Tbone for being the only ones to get this. (How quickly we all forget how much we wanted to Boogie, Oogie, Oogie. Ha!)

Well, you know how well I always read the rules! Not to mention since I did this game on the hotel computer, I was kinda rushing myself anyway. Looking at some of those records of the year, I doubt I'd have known any of them anyway.....

I must respectfully point out that I too hadn't forgotten that damn Boogie Oogie Oogie song by A Taste of Honey and had the correct answer for that.
