Another amazing thing about Ike

#1 Post by TheCalvinator24 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 3:22 pm

When we were getting the wind and rain yesterday, Ike was still classified as a Category 1 hurricane.

Let that sink in a moment.

A hurricane hit Dallas.

Yes, I know that since the eye went well to the east, technically, the hurricane did not "hit" Dallas.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Add Auburn to list on 10/4/2005. We're 200 miles inland. It was the scariest thing I've even been through. Trees falling like match sticks.
