He's OK. No power or water, but safe.

I put this in beebs' thread, but realized it deserved its own thread.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

Thanks for checking, and for giving us the update.

Good to hear he is OK. I noticed his soccer team the Dynamo was in San Jose, far from the storm, they played to a 1-1 tie this evening.

Thanks to Rexer for getting in touch with me. I realized yesterday that I didn't have any BBs in the address book of my new cell phone. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I hope everyone else made it through OK. It looks good from what I've read of the bored.

Still no water or power at my apartment but everything else is OK. MinuteMaid Park across the highway has power which I can sort of understand since it is new and downtown has mostly underground power but the MinuteMaid parking lots which are on my side of the highway and right next to my apartment complex have power. That's kind of irritating to look out across the darkened warehouse district and see the lights blazing over a huge empty parking lot. Oh well.

I walked across downtown to get to the courthouse this morning. Power, water, and AC here which is nice. I'm going to take a shower, soak up the AC and then head back to my place.

The biggest hazard downtown is the glass and metal everywhere. There are crews working on the trees and on the glass right around the Chase Tower which has the most damage. I have no idea when our courthouse will reopen. I'm sure some of the judges are planning to open on Monday. They didn't want to close on Friday.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

Posted just a second ago. We are O.K. Have water, phone, and electricity. No cable or high-speed internet.

AJ is back!

Power (and water) returned to my apartment on Monday night. My TV and internet service returned this morning. Hurray!

Still several million people for the power company to work on but they fixed me up.

Part of my family back in the Midwest is without power though. The remnants of Hurricane Ike and other storms knocked out the power for my sister in Southeast Indiana, for my aunt and uncle in East Central Indiana, another aunt and uncle in Northeast Indiana and for my cousin in central Illinois. My friends (practically family) in Michigan also had power outages but they are back.

I had no idea about any of this until this morning. Being cut off from the normal flow of news and email will do that to you.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Welcome back, AJ!

The wind was still pretty strong when it passed through this area, Sunday night, and it caused scattered power outages. I can only imagine what it was like when it was still hurricane strength!
