The Houston landmark burned down last night at the worst of the storm. :(

Was it any relation to the Brennan's in New Orleans?

There was a family connection between the two restaurants, but I don't think they were both under one umbrella.

Brennan's is where my Parents took me out to eat lunch on the day I got my results that I had passed the Texas Bar Exam.

I never thought someone could put more crabmeat than I could eat in my omelet, but Brennan's in NO did. Yowzah. Whatever their sister restaurant on Canal (I think) was, it was rockin', too...

You're thinking of The Palace Cafe.

Yes, I am! Alcohol consumption tends to blur the details, but I do recall eating quite fabulously when I was in town...

If it wasn't him, he had a bunch of relatives! They hose the vomit out of the gutters after the bars close, but the streets still reek in the morning when you get to Brennan's. It was about the time of Shock and Awe (which was about the only time we wowed them, huh?) when I was last there, but I still remember the smell...

Well, then! You're not the only bb to consume large amounts of booze at the Palace Cafe.

It's a good restaurant. They make a good turtle soup. We had brunch there a few years ago. They make a dish called Shrimp Tchefuncte. It is delish.

Heck, that wasn't all that long after Mardi Gras then. You'd have thought they'd have gotten all the binging and puking out of their system by then.....

Maybe they should just let the urinators wash out all the vomit to save the time and expense of cleanup crews....

I think it was just before Final Four time? Something big was coming up. Maybe they didn't bother with sobering up knowing more bingeing was soon to follow...

Yep, the '03 Final Four was in New Orleans that year, so that would've been about a week away.....

See! I remembered something! I only had one Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's! It was kinda nasty, actually. Mai Tais and Rum Runners are better...

Yes. Pappa Brennan gave his two sons his restaurants but they didn't get along and split into two sets of restaurants. The Olde Absinthe house is one of them too, as is Brennan's Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.
