The bbking family is hanging in there, doing fine. There are many uprooted and damaged trees around, including some that are blocking the streets and one that went through a neighbor's roof. Part of the bbking family's fence was knocked down and, of course, they have no power. Now they're waiting to see how much rain they'll get as the rest of the storm passes through. bb did say that she expects widespread street flooding, but she thinks their house is high enough to avoid that kind of wet trouble.

I have no doubt that she will organize a barbecue and a block party before life returns to normal.

Good to hear. The news says from 3-5,000,000 are without power. The Houston mayor has issued a boil water order. I hope they have natural gas.

Beebs is a good girl. Following through on calling those who insisted.

It will not be fun then next few days. Riding out the storm is the easiest part from my experience. You do kinda bond with the neighbors. We have a gas cooktop and did most of the cooking, while the neighbors provided plenty of food.

Our last hurricane, I thought I had lost my diamond ring, but I found it. Had me worried there for while though.

I've already heard from some friends in Houston this morning myself (they live right next to Rice) and there doesn't seem to be anything worse where they are than some partially-flooded streets and lots of tree limbs everywhere. They even have power, owing to the fact that they happen to be on the same power grid as a nearby hospital.

Here's hoping that Houston BB's are faring just as well.

Thank you so much SC for relaying the news.

I am so glad to hear the BBKFamily is okay. I wish I could send some food down. Virtual food just doesn't cut it sometimes.

Looking for a couple more BBs to check in......

Thanks, SC, for passing along the news. I hope it continues to be as good as possible for all concerned.

I have a stepbrother and his family who live in Clear Lake, very close to NASA. They evacuated Thursday and are safe. Lost their fence and a couple of trees (according to neighbors who checked), and have no power. They'll stay hunkered in a hotel for another day or two, but the cabin fever is running pretty high.

Thanks for the update, Ms. Silver. This is good news, as I am rather fond of Her Royal Wackness.

Now looking forward to hearing positive news of our other friends in that area.

Any word on Bix, BiT, or aj? It's also good to see those on the outskirts of the storm checking in as well. Looks like Oklahoma is getting a bunch of rain...
