While I understand the severity of Ike, and the importance of being prepared, how can anyone make a statement like:
""I cannot overemphasize the danger that is facing us..."
I think anyone with any creativity could. Like...
"Hurricane Ike will cause black holes to form and engulf the earth."
"The storm surge will be large enough to wash Austin into Waco."
He does a much better job making up stories about his opponents when running for re-election. I'm so disappointed.

Which begs the question: How would a Gov. Kinky Friedman have handled this?

Well, he did say that 1.5 million Texans will die if they don't evacuate. That seemed like a pretty strong overemphasis to me.

That reminds me: He never did anything about the guy whose hearing was scheduled for two days after his execution date. It took a judge to put the execution on hold.

You better believe they do. We're not gonna let God get 'em before we get our bloody revenge, um, I mean, justice.
