Just take a look at the hate-filled statements and speeches that have appeared in just the last few days:

To wit:
Steve Cohen's statement in The House
Matt Damon's rant
Obama's "lipstick" statement
Carol Fowler's (South Carolina Democratic chairwoman) statement

And these are just the ones I've heard about in the past few days. As I posted yesterday, the fangs are coming out in full force.

Steve Cohen's statement in The House - Not exactly a household name, is he? WGAS, other than his stupidity to say it on the House floor. And that's more an issue for his constituents to consider.

Matt Damon's rant - WGAS what any celebrity says or does in a campaign? Does anyone really vote Democratic because Babs says to? Did anyone vote Republican because Charlton Heston endorsed them?

Obama's "lipstick" statement - Total BS on the part of the RNC. But the media is buying it wholesale and selling it to the public retail.

Carol Fowler's (South Carolina Democratic chairwoman) statement - You have fools like this expressing their private opinions of the other side's candidates in public on both sides of the aisle. Again, WGAS.

Bottom line: Other than the lipstick nonsense, it's all people expressing their own opinions, and not what you would call major statements by prominent figures in the party. And the party mostly involved with "lipstick" is the Republicans. I wouldn't call it panic or even concern. But then, I'm not a Republican trying to deflect attention away from the real issues.

The Republicans' "outrage," like much of what "outrages" both parties during an election is manufactured. However, the lipstick comment was an intentional cheap sexist slur, coming from a candidate with a history of using thinly veiled attempts at sexism (giving the finger to Hillary). What the Democrats don't like is that unlike Hillary, who chose to let these things slide for the good of the party, the Republicans called Obama out on it.

Pictures of a pig wearing lipstick hae appeared on the Democratic Party official website a couple of days after the Palin pick.





Note that the pig is wearing glasses. If this isn't a childish attempt to compare Palin to a pig, why put glasses on the pig?

As Obama said, when he tried to equate everything the Clintons said, "words matter." Except when Obama says them and gets called out for them, then they don't matter. At best, he shows a callous insensitivity to women. What is far more likely true is that he shows a basic contempt for women combined with a tremendously juvenile sense of humor and propriety. This is not what I want in a president.

She's also my avatar on the GoComics site, where I post as The Wild Sow. That's been one of my screen names on a couple of forums since early 2006.

So, that particular pic, like the expression itself, predates Sarah Palin's blip on the national radar by, well, at least a couple of years!

McCain's campaign has spread more lies than any other! They distort anything they can.

Politicians 'stretching the truth,' expressing outrage at the claims of the opponent, even, shock!, lying to win an election. I'm dismayed at the turn of recent events.

Partisans during the Jefferson-Adams race in 1800 made claims of "you'll be murdered in the street," and the like.
