One of the givens when using public transportation is that you get what you get in terms of fellow passengers and drivers. Ordinarily I tend to ignore my surroundings - I put my headphones on and switch on my MP3 player and let the rest of the world go away. Yesterday, however, that wasn't possible because the bus driver evidently thought that he was a standup comedian on stage at a nightclub because he was constantly cracking jokes and making comments (not bad ones) about the bus, the stops, things we passed along the way, etc. Each bus is equipped with a microphone that allows the driver to announce the bus number and destination at each stop (in case someone can't read the information displayed on a scrolling marquee outside the bus). Usually the driver will just say "23 - Breckinridge" (the route I travel) when coming to a stop where passengers are waiting. But this driver thought the microphone was an open invitation to make Seinfeld-like "slice of life" comments. There was no way I could turn up the volume on my MP3 player enough to drown him out.
And while I'm in "whine mode" I wish I could access photobucket from work and see some of the great photos that are linked here.
