Win a Million!!!
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Good luck, Winnamill!

Does she have any BBs on her PAF team today? Has she authorized them to give us the customary non-spoiler updates, e.g. when the "In the Hot Seat" and "Stand Down" calls arrive?

I'm glad she made it in last night. We'll have major storms moving through today and have up to two-hours airport delays already.

12:30 for the taping start, right? I'll warm up the positive vibrator and set the timer. (That doesn't sound quite right, but you know what I mean.)

Easy stacks and big bucks! Go for it!
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I'm guessing, since we haven't had any updates, that the answer to these questions was "no".

Does anyone know if she taped yesterday? Did she have to wait until today?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Do the new release forms that PAFs have to sign include non-disclosure language that prohibits even the non-spoilerish updates we've been accustomed to?

I feel it is OK to talk about this since the release that they sign can be freely distributed to anyone who may be a potential PAF.

The release itself doesn't have any non-disclosure clauses - it is simply giving the right to your image to be used by Millionaire as they see fit.

That said, I will repost what I wrote when I was an in-betweener (I had my run down on the show for my taping date, but didn't tape that day so I came back another day) - during that intrium I posted the following to the bored:
Regarding using the PAF's as a data source (granted a limited one at best), I've been asked by TPTB to ask my PAFs to not reveal any details whatsever about what they know until the show airs, including whether or not they were called, if they were called, what level I was at, what the question was, how sure they were of their answer and if they suspect if I got it right or not - no nothing. I am assuming that they will respect this request even if it is not legally binding. In essence the only thing I feel comfortable in my PAFs sharing to the world is knowing whether or not I have finished my taping. The mantra they gave us when anyone wants to find out anything about what happend on the show was "Tune In and Find Out" and I plan on respecting their request as well.
I would imagine that Winnamill got the same info. I would guess that the silence is due to no bored members being on the PAF list - but that is just a guess, because I think the standard - in the hot seat and standdown type of messages would be OK - since it doesn't reveal anything about the actual game play only that they taped - it doesn't even say if they used a PAF or not.

In the past BBs who have been on PAF duty have only let us know when they got the setup call, when they got the "your friend is in the hot seat" call, and when they got they stand down call. Occasionally one may report whether he or she was the one who got the PAF call, but to my knowledge none of the BB PAFs has ever revealed the dollar amount of the question for which they were called.

Thanks, frogman; that must have been the warning I was thinking of.

So why have TPTB become so fearful of PAFs sharing even the most basic update? Should it even be a secret that someone was selected as a contestant until their episode airs?

I remember when the Bored got excited when a BB was taping an episode and when we could vicariously share in that experience, just a little bit...

<sigh>

I was a PAF last week. I was not called. Nobody from the show ever told me what I was allowed or not allowed to say. The release was just to allow them to use your photo on the air and to certify that you owned the rights to the photo and were qualified to authorize them to use it.

I couldn't. I don't own the copyright on those.

I wasn't able to post much while gone because of the $0.35/minute fee I was paying to use the Internet at the hotel. Very easy for me to just go nuts on the Internet so I had to keep a grip on my time.

Plus, they go to some lengths (pretty crazy ones at least from an outsider's view, maybe they know the reason) to not even let contestants talk to each other once they return to the locker room from the Hot Seat. The carryover contestant for the start of my day was isolated in a dressing room down the hall and not allowed to hang with the rest of us before his/her taping. Basically, NOTHING was allowed once the HS was visited.

So that is why I haven't brought forth any more details than that. Just figure I don't want to get on the wrong side of any show producers before the show airs. After that, I will probably be difficult to shut up. I'll definitely be happy to share what I can until then so please just ask away, and if I can't share, we can cover it later on when I can.
