Thinking of applying...

I'm thinking of trying to get back into Human Resources at a job which would be a beautiful fit but which would mean no access during the day to this and other "recreational" sites I hang around. Don't worry, that wouldn't stop me.
What's your opinion on this: Would you hesitate to hire me because I chair the local Dems?

Not if you could assure me that you wouldn't be spending company time on that.

Heck, no. Is someone actually considering NOT hiring you because of that? If so, it would be a terrible fit anyway.
I could sick a pig on someone if you'd like.

Only if the job is with the RNC.

We could teach you how to fake being a redneck.
Don't make their decision for them. Apply for the job, and let the employer decide. I think it might just surprise you.
I am assuming you are not one of those bomb throwing Democrats I keep hearing about.

I am wondering why that is a question. Do you think they ought to hesitate? Would you hesitate if you were the head of HR and someone applied for this job and he/she chaired the local Republics?
(How'd you like how I did the republic thing - it's in response to the democrat party thing I am hearing.)

The names of parties are weird. The Republican Party has Republicans as members. The Democratic Party doesn't have Democratics, but Democrats. I think sometimes people aren't trying to be rude or anything. It's just one of those things.

Rush howlongcanilistenbeforeibarf Limbaugh has taken to calling it the Democrat Party. I am not sure why. It is a new thing for him.

He's been doing it for years. It's just part of the Dittohead lingo, like "feminazis." He does it to show his disdain, and because he knows it pisses people off and therefore rallies his audience, thus generating more advertising revenue. Dittoheads use the term to show their fealty to Rush and solidarity with each other. And to piss people off.

"My Democrat opponent" is a perfectly valid phrase, but it sure does seem to piss off a lot of Democrats.
"The Democrat Party" is not correct and should not be used.

It didn't start with Rush. Apparently this goes back at least to the time of Joe McCarthy. But it's gotten disturbingly common and mainstream these days; GWB has said it and so have John McCain and a number of other Republicans. It's sad, really.

Is Woody Allen a Jew or is he Jewish? I've never been comfortable with the former. Luckily, living in Central Illinois, it is hardly ever a prob.

LOL! Thanks!
No, I haven't even applied yet.
I think BobJuch hit it. I'm going with SuitDude, going all in, and letting them decide.

No, they shouldn't hesitate. The reason I even asked, we had a horrific experience on the Red Cross Board. We had a Republic

Board Member who pitched a fit when our top candidate for Executive Director was a term-limited Democratic office holder. She couldn't get past it and started ranting and raving about the Board staying non-political.
I didn't bring up the circumstances because I wanted a reality check and got one.

For those of you who think you will annoy us by calling us Republics, you couldn't be more wronger.

Nope. I think it's amusing. Particularly the underlying assumption that we will be annoyed.

Saying "nope" is getting defensive?
And, yes, I know you are just playing with me.

It isn't - Rush started it at least in 1994 - with the "Contract for America" ot "Contract on America" - whichever you prefer.

It was long before that. An RNC official told me in 1979 -- before John McCain retired from the Navy -- that "Democrat Party" was their preferred nomenclature because "no single political party has a monopoly on being democratic."'
