I got polled!

For once, someone from a major pollster called me! NBC/WSJ poll, identified themselves right up front, told me how long it would take (and were right), and covered all four candidates (POTUS and VPOTUS) equally.
The immediate self-ID was refreshing, as was the accurate timing. I've been polled when they said it would take ten minutes and I was still on the phone 40 minutes later. Was way too patient with that one, but I learned.

Last time I polled someone in just 10 minutes, she never never took my calls again.

TWO l's! That's TWO l's in the word!
Which brings to mind the appropriate poem below:
The one-l lama,
He's a priest.
The two-l llama,
He's a beast.
And I will bet
A silk pajama
There isn't any
Three-l lllama.*
*The author's attention has been called to a type of conflagration known
as a three-alarmer. Pooh.

Could you tell if this was a national poll or just from your state?

I didn't even think about that. I couldn't tell. Considering that I'm from one of the bluest of blue states and that it was from a national organization (NBC/WSJ), I would think it was national. I suppose they could have been checking to see if there's any slippage in the Blue skew hereabouts.

State polls are usually commissioned by a newspaper or television station, and are more often a function of wanting to have something "new" to tell their readers/viewers, rather than because there is a real likelihood of valid movement in that state. For this reason, you will see a number of New York polls in the next two months, even though there's very little chance the state will go for McCain. In addition, if there's a competitive Senate or Governor's race in the state, it's not much more expensive to do a presidential poll in conjunction with the Senate poll.

There ain't nuthin' of interest in the MA elections this year. Kerry will have to spend a little extra money for reelection because some fool is challenging him in the primary, but that's about it.
The Republicans are so pitiful around here that they can't even muster candidates for most of the legislative seats. We only get Republican governors because the real power lies with the heads of the strongly Democratic state legislature. I think the House is something like 5 to 1, Democrat to Republican, and the state Senate isn't much different. The federal Congresscritters can only dream of such a veto-proof margin.

I remember Kerry. He opined that I should join the Flat Earth Society last week on' Meet the Press' (along with TMITSSS & Jeemie).
