URGENT QUESTION about cordless phones!

Hi!

I will probably only see an answer to this until about 5:30 PDT, but if you happen to see it later, maybe I will have e-mail access in time.

Anyway, my primary PAF is hoping to use a cordless phone because that is what we have in the school library. I'm loaning her a regular phone just in case, but she'll have to work on length of cord issues, etc. The rules say that cordless phones could have poor quality.

Has anyone used a cordless phone with a PAF? Does it really matter? She will have access to both, but at the moment the cordless is the easiest to use. I just don't want any nightmares of not being able to use her because of technical difficulties that could have been avoided.

Hoping someone sees this in time!

Thanks!

I was using a cordless phone as a PAF earlier this week. As long as you are safely within the phone's range, there should be no problem. I wasn't actually called on the air this time, but I spoke to the studio staff during the set up call and during the call to tell me "he's in the hot seat." If they had any issues with sound quality, I trust that they would have told me.

I used the cordless phone because it has an audio jack on it. I bought a headset with an earpiece and a microphone (like you see the operators use in the Time-Life informercials). This allowed me to have both hands free, for other hypothetical purposes.

I used the same arrangement a few years ago for a successful PAF call.

Good luck!

Got the message! Thanks! That is what I was hoping to hear. I will pass it along to the PAF.
