BYU was winning 28-21 in the 4th Quarter. UW went down the field on a 17 play drive in which the QB Jake Locker scored a TD making it 28-27 with 2 seconds left. Locker gently spikes ball behind head to go celebrate with teammates. Refs nail him for excessive celebration and penalize UW 15 yards on extra point attempt. 35 yard (instead of traditional 20 yard) extra point attempt is blocked and BYU wins.

Really. We've been watching OU, of course.

Next week OU plays UW and we're supposed to be there.
Well, then

Just saw the replay. Major hose job. Major. Next week should be interesting in light of the past efforts of PAC10 refs. Holy smokes.
Well, then

I've been hearing the past two weeks how TBTB are really cracking down on "excessive celebration" this year and it will call for a penalty.

Good grief, take all the fun out of football, will ya??

In the first game of the season, one of the Gamecocks dropped an interception. The then dropped to the ground and did pushups. 15 yards.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
