I actually believed...

...my boyfriend earlier when he told me that there was a donkey in his front yard.

I can't believe I am publicly admitting that, as I write it, it sounds so stupid. But he's had such diverse wildlife lately and that was the purpose of the call ("guess what was just in my front yard...")

Plus I'm in CT and people here have weird pets. I very calmly told him to call the police, as I was sure the owners would have reported their donkey missing.

Yeah. And I wasn't even half asleep or on Benadryl.

Apparently it was meant to be a quasi-political joke, but I have detached myself from that so much that I didn't get, not even when he pointed it out. Now I can just laugh at the whole thing, and allow you all to laugh with me! Or at me, your choice. :)

If it makes you feel any better, I probably would have responded exactly as you did.

We lived in West Hartford for three years while Jeff did his residency. Both ducks and squirrels lived in our yard.

I would have believed it as well.

The donkey would fit in with the deer and the fox and the turkeys and the black bear we have had recently.

If I was told there was a jack ass on the front lawn, I would have asked him to send Ted home.

Okay so I'm not totally crazy! :)

He has had tons of deer, squirrels, chipmunks, a fox, a bobcat and there are bears in the area we just haven't seen them in the yard yet. A donkey was just something else to add to the list!

Saw a deer just this morning in the back yard.

Hey, you never know.

My mom is known for picking up strays, usually people who are having a rough patch. Call her house and the person who answers the phone can be someone moving out of an abusive situation or someone down on their luck waiting for a plane ticket back to the mainland. You just never know.

But the time I called and she explained that there was a miniature horse in the backyard was a classic. How did this come to be? It got abandoned at the airport because it turned out it was pregnant. And some friend asked if she could keep it in her fenced in yard overnight.

Pregnant miniature horse in the backyard.

The donkey would be believable.

In Chicago we have owls, deer and coyotes and neighbors who act like animals.
