Thanks for the good wishes.
I just checked my work email. They are not saying numbers of how many people will go. For now it is voluntary buyouts. We would work through Oct. 3, which means four more high school football Friday nights and four more college football Saturday nights. Gak.
People in my group got a separate email from our new supervisor to pick up our packets, so I guess we all got offers. I'll fidn out tomorrow when I go back to work. I will have until Sept. 17 to turn in the paperwork but I will turn it in immediately.
I am contacting area colleges about part-time teaching gigs. I can get decent health insurance for $200/month with Blue Cross, or a crappy plan for $150. I pay very little rent, and my car is paid for. I would probably have to give up flying all over the place so often, but I will have more disposable time and more access to weekends and night events.
There are two job fairs on campus soon, one with nonprofits and one with everyone else. I may look at Teach For America, once I ask around about it some more.
This is going to be fun.

Skoop --
As I said before, you will be fine.
I believe that in my heart.

Teach for America is really, really cool. It may be the thing I most liked about the Clinton presidency. I hope you check it out, and that you like it enough to give it a try. I further hope that you love this profession so much you never want to leave it.
We need all the Skoops we can get.
