The secret path up Mt. Rushmore

Background Info-
1)The Spocklets had just watched National treasure 2 and North by Northwest.
2) I am not one to stay on the marked path and I generally believe that signs indicating "Area Closed" are not meant for me.
Anyway-Li'l Spock-10 YO-was absolutely convinced that there would be a stairway to the top.
So to add some adventure to the visit for him and the 5YO-and with my dislike of following the path-we left the main trail in the vicinity of the sculptor's studio and followed a trail through the woods. It was fun and we were being sneaky.
We went quite a ways and I think we were paralleling (along the base of the mountain) a service road-then we saw a road crossing our path perpendicularly-so I told the boys we found the secret path up Mt. Rushmore-
We snuck back to the main trail and I told them not to tell Mom until we got in the car-I said "The walls have ears." So in my boys' eyes we found the back path up Mt. Rushmore and he said he has been telling some of his friends about it.
The little one 5YO was getting kind of nervous as we followed the trail and he was very happy when we turned around.
