Change your font color to white.
Type in your text.
The text will be visible only if someone places their mouse before it, clicks, and drags the mouse.
Like this:

This should be visible only after mousing over it.

I could read it if I looked closely

Now, the quote box is white, but the background of normal posts isn't quite.

Let's try
this as a test

I think maybe you could quote your own post and then use white text on a white background. Let's see if this works:
Q: How many game show contestants does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Hell if I know. What are the choices? Let's ask the audience.
A) one
B) two
C) three
D) Not as many as it takes to change a message board

True, but the point is to make it non-obvious.
The Bored Admin
could make the background of the message window white.

Sure, if he wants to fry our eyeballs.
Trust me, you really don't want to be looking at a white screen. If you want to be able to post spoilers, just figure out what color the background in use is. I imagine that taking a look at the source code might be of some help. --Bob

The problem is that the posts alternate in background color.
I think white text is good enough.

You can make your own white background. See my post above.

I know some phb boards actually have a
tag. Does this one have that functionality buried in there? [/code]

I had been intending to add alternate themes/templates/color schemes to the Bored so people would have different options to choose from. That could complicate efforts at hiding spoiler info, since not everyone would be seeing the Bored in the same colors.

If everyone uses Ed's quote function method to post spoilers, you can do whatever you want.
So:
SPOILER ALERT! wrote:Why are you reading this? It's a SPOILER!!!!!

Or, you can try the Spoiler tags I've just added to the code:
Spoilers go here!
Clicking the little button next to that text toggles between showing it and hiding it.
NOTE: Make sure Javascript is enabled in your web browser.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

trst -this is a test of the emergency broadcast system. If this was not a test, you would be directed to tune in the dedicated frequency for your area. This is only a test.

On my version 3 phpBB, the [ spoiler ] tag was already enabled (but not documented). It looks even better in version 3.
