IIRC, BiT is another '58er, so welcome to the back side of 50! It's great over here...so far...after 2 months. Really!
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

Happy birthday to you, BiT. Make a wish, blow out those candles, and may everything come true quickly.

Happy Birthday!
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

A most glorious b-day for you and hopefully a non-hurricane-filled rest of the week...
Well, then

Thanks all!

I had a good day. Saw Collin Hay (Men at Work) Saturday night. He was fantastic. Very tallented and funny (though a bit of a potty mouth). Made playing the guitar look so easy and singing so natural.

I don't feel a day over 50 (even though that is what I am). :D
