Maybe she'll create an undersecretary of silly walks or pet shops.

Interesting tidbits.

Her husband is a native Eskimo, and her five kids are named Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig (who has Down's Syndrome).

I think Christmas just came early for the Obama campaign.

Anybody still wanna challenge me on my "Obama/Biden by a landslide" call earlier?

But seriously, please tell me this is a joke. Somebody tell me that we're not having a discussion about Sarah Palin being the running mate.

You might wanna ask some Hillary supporters that question. If she is the nominee, it was a very savvy move on the part of McCain.

If I were you, I would quit fretting over Sarah Palin and start fretting over Joe Biden.

I revised my opinion that it's just a "woman" thing.

Palin is VERY conservative...McCain's playing a "run to the base" campaign, which worked quite well for George W. Bush the past two years.

And Nelly, I know you are a die-hard leftie and can't see the forest for the trees, but a lot of Americans obviously still have doubts about Obama.

With the way Bush and the GOP are disliked, he should be up by a bunch right now.

That he isn't (even in the electoral college, although I haven't seen any post-convention polls) is very telling.

BTW, because it will surely come up, "Eskimo" is a widely used term in Alaska for Yup'ik and Inupiat peoples. Inuit is the term used in Canada but is not exactly correct in Alaska since it doesn't cover the same range of peoples. Yup'ik are not Inuit.

Lots of debate about whether or not Eskimo is a derogatory term but Alaska Natives (the regional term for all native peoples) seem to use it pretty freely.

Probably more correct, though, to say that Todd Palin is Yup'ik.

Thanks for the clarification.

I have a silly walk, and I love pet shops (or, at least, PetSmart, which is the only one I've ever been inside.) Maybe I can be the undersecretary.

Aren't there any conservative women who aren't under investigation that McCain could have chosen?

Yes. Any conservative woman who isn't Sarah Palin.

But I would still probe her. :P

She doesn't look like a pool player. I'll bet she can't even run the table, though she may have been bent over a few of them before.....

She has five kids. I'd say she has been bent over them more than just a few times.

This is just pathetic. If anybody started spewing blatant racist rhetoric about Obama like the blatant sexist rhetoric I'm reading here about Palin, everybody would rightly be up in arms.

Maybe I'm missing the outrage and it's in other threads. I'll go check.

Actually, quit fretting over Palin and start fretting over Obama.

Not being 'qualified' to be President may be a good thing. I know it hasn't hurt Obama any. At least with his party.

No, I'm serious here.

This isn't some juvenile T&A wet tee shirt contest we're talking.

I have to go through the other threads. Perhaps it's been answered by one of our conservative friends. But I would like to know.

McCain wanted to shore up credentials with the conservative base, right?

A conservative woman, a fine tactic. Outsider - fine idea.

But, she's a reform governor who could not deliver the reform candidate for Senate running against Ted Stevens - the man with the bridge to nowhere.

Does that undercut her message of her ability to reform?

She's under investigation for not making good judgements under fire.

Can John McCain make the case that she'd be ready to step in to the role of President?

This morning, Kay Bailey Hutchinson admitted she didn't know much about her, except "youth."

McCain needs to introduce her to the Republican party, much less the country.

Can he do that in a low-key convention that will be overshadowed by Hurricane Gustav?

Was this a choice to pander to disaffected Hillary voters? On gender alone, maybe. On issues? Not so sure.

Well- I'm allowed to do this- I'm a conservative!

So it's expected of me anyway!

These are all very good quetions.

I don't know the answers to them.

And last I herard, though, I thought the investigation was winding down, and nothing was going to happen to her.

Not being able to get Stevens unseated might hurt, although many times, it isn't whether you succeed, but that you tried that counts in politics.
