McCain will be appearing with his new running mate in Dayton, OH, at noon Eastern today.
The press have reported that Romney is the only short-lister who is scheduled to be in Dayton today.

My opinion on Palin as the running mate: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Does McCain want to lose this election? OK, I get that he wants to lure many of those bitter Hillary Clinton supporters by putting a woman on the ticket... but don't you think that McCain would pick a woman with more... experience and name recognition? Like Kay Bailey Hutchison, whose name was tossed around on the Bored quite a bit this week?
Palin has been governor for less than two years. Before that, she was the mayor of some town in the middle of Alaska that nobody has heard of. She has less experience than Obama! If it is her, then the entire Republican campaign that Obama is too young and too inexperienced will be automatically defused. Plus, she would never survive in the VP debate against Biden.
There has to be some other reason that Palin is being considered. Is it to sex up the Republican ticket? To win Alaska's oh-so-crucial 3 electoral votes? To keep Ted Stevens and Don Young in office?

One of our tour guides in Alaska told us that Vanity Fair or some such had some time ago named Sarah Palin the "Hottest Governor" in the US.
She is a former Miss Vasilla (that's a town north of Anchorage) and was first runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant. She is a mother of 5, the youngest of which was born this past April.
She's also an ex-sportscaster, and has made her name, even before being governor as being big on governmental ethics, going after fellow Republicans who had conflicts of interest. In that respect, JMcC may have a soul mate.

Bad choice all around. And McCain has Alaska firmly in his grasp- this choice would do nothing for him.

Well, if all these rumors are true, it's either Ridge or Liebermann, neither of which will sit well with the GOP base.
I guess there's a small chance of some wild-card- Jindal?
Or is McCain content to try the "go to the middle" strategy?

As I said, I think Lieberman's $250,000 contribution to the DSCC last week effectively took him out of the running to be VP.
IIRC, Jindal took himself out of the running a couple weeks ago.
