Well, you didn't expect anything on the first post did you?

It will begin on the next one.

Invitations are ordered. We didn't do response cards. That would have added almost $300. We aren't doing a sit down dinner for the reception, so we felt like the response cards weren't necessary.

I was surprised at how expensive they were, but they are very nice, we have separate reception cards and the envelopes are lined.

We will pay someone to address them using calligraphy.

Counting posting and cost of having addressed it's probably coming in right at $1000.00. Yikes!


Still in my budget, though.

I need to start commenting more if I ever expect to break into double digits on The List.

That said -- I'm so looking forward to watching "your" wedding come together.

I have a student who demonstrated his beautiful calligraphy in class today. I'm filing his name away for future reference when DD gets hitched!

Yes, but even if it's Hors d'oeuvres or a buffet, won't the caterer need a ballpark headcount?

We figure we can do the ballpark headcount without response cards.
We're sending approximately 200 invitations - most of those will be "and guest" or Mr & Mrs. We just didn't think we needed 200 response cards since it's not a sit down dinner. A lot of the invitations are to people we know absolutely will not come but require an invitation..i.e. my 91 year old mother who lives 500 miles away and other relatives, etc.


We live in a small town and pretty much know who will and won't come.
We can tie the family down and the rest will be within that "ball park" figure.
We will definitely have to tell them how many we will plan on feeding, probably in the 300 range.

Did you weigh them to make sure that they only required one stamp to mail?

I'm sure they will weigh more than an ounce. We'll get the correct postage once they'll put together.

It will have the envelope with the invitation and the envelope you address as well as the reception card. It'll be over the one stamp deal for sure.

When Jeff and I got married in 1989, the first class rate was only $.25.
