The Colorado Rockies

#1 Post by etaoin22 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:17 am

are 6 games out of first place in the NL West.

Since June 1:

Colorado Rockies ----- 43-34
Los Angeles Dodgers - 38-38
Arizona Diamondbacks 36-39
San Francisco Giants-- 34-41
San Diego Padres ----- 27-47

I know this isn't football and that Sprots is busy with other things, but that division's standings have been calling out to me and saying "lookie here!" for awhile now.

Yes, I live in Fort Worth, but I am a big Rockies fan. I went to the franchise's first two games ever. I was living in New York, and they started their first season on the road against the Mets at Shea. I was living in Colorado when Coors Field opened, so I went to the first game ever played there (all 14 innings of it in 36 degree weather). And last year I took my 8 year old son and drove up to go to game 3 of the World Series.

This year has been a disappointment over all. The Rockies dug themselves such a huge hole in April and May. But last year they did have one of the best records in baseball after June 1st, even before that 21-1 streak.

One thing that does give me hope is that, other than the D-backs, all their remaining opponents are at .500 or below. They would have to play well in their head to head games against Arizona to catch them...

I've been trying to look in -- I'll wander over in a minute to MLB.com and get an update. The only Rockies stuff I've seen is on caps at the 16th Street Mall. These people don't have their priorities real straight. The hottest ticket in town isn't at Coors, it's at Invesco tomorrow night.

I thought it would be Friday with the Broncos/Cardinals pre season game on jumbotron.
