Under the heading of "other duties as assigned":
We continue to get updates on the "great refresh" (replacement of all computers) that is now scheduled to take place in November. Yesterday everyone received a checklist of things to do to prepare for the refresh, including deleting old and unneeded files, removing any unauthorized software, cleaning the workspace, backing up data, etc. Well one of our managers, who is somewhat of a technophobe, was worried that someone (read: she) might "mess things up" so she suggested that I be the person that goes to every computer and performs these operations. I told her that I can't determine which files should be deleted; her reply was that I should consult with each user. Then it will be my responsibility to back up every user's files to CD (we don't have an automatic backup-to-network in place, unfortunately) and be the "trusted agent" that stands by and watches while the ACE-IT technician removes the old computer and installs the new one.
