Postcard from Alaska

As I type this, I am looking out the picture windows of the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge in the general direction of Mt. McKinley. I would be more specific, but clouds are in the way. We did see much of Mt. McK yesterday, first as we were driving through Anchorage- a city described accurately by John McPhee "which would not be out of place at the west end of the Holland Tunnel."
This has been a grand trip. This is a great place. The beauty and danger is all around, every turn in the road is another postcard.
Beloved Son got a picture of a black bear from 15 feet away.
Quote of the week, from our pilot flying over Misty Fjords National Monument: "Sorry for that quick turn, but if I didn't make it, you'd have heard a sound like a chainsaw, and then it would be very quiet."
Back in a few days. Carry on.
