Sheesh!

And I thought the opening was incredible.

What a way to go out

You are getting the broadcast before we do. We get to watch another volleyball game before they will show us the closing ceremonies.

missanniecamaro --

My Pretty Lady and My Boonie says that we're not watching this for volleyball. We are watching this for emotion.

I do not know what they mean but they had a lengthy conversation about it.

My Boonie is VERY annoyed because he wants the last event of the Olympics to be the men's marathon (or women's - he's not fussy).

ALWAYS.

Have the winning runner come into a crowded stadium and big cheers for the last guy, too.

Is it too late for us to come to Canada to see misssaucymamacat's television?

Where is Canada?

Spoiler
The men's marathon medals are awarded during the closing, so that's pretty close. Very moving it was.

I didn't watch it. Call me cynical, but I assumed that after everything else that's happened in China, it would have one or more fake or deceptive moment(s) and I didn't want to be impressed by something only to find out days later it wasn't genuine. These games gave me a really bad impression of China overall.

But you could probably say the same thing about EVERY country that's hosted the summer Olympics--Russia, the U.S., Germany...

Christine Brennan had an interesting column in USA Today midway through the Games.

She said there was a wonderful Olympics going on; it was a shame that the Chinese government wasn't letting the people if Beijing enjoy it.

When people gathered to watch something on one of the huge public TV screens, security forces chansed them away.

I heard a similar comment on Fox Sports Radio today.

Boonie and I are looking forward to going to London for the 2012 Games.

Spoiler
Eric is so silly! When the little girls in the cute colorful dresses came out he said, "Oh look the Chinese women's gymnastics team!" When I looked up from the computer, the girls to whom he was referencing couldn't have been over 7 or 8. LOL Silly!

I wondered how many of of the telegenic children were actually lip-syncing.

When the "pop stars" started singing, Maddie said that it looked like a Chinese version of High School Musical.
