Say hello to Ramsley...

My new Dell XPS 630 computer!

Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 3 GHz.
6 GB of RAM.
640 GB hard drive.
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT graphics card with 512 MB of dedicated memory.

:D

And since this is my first time trying out Windows Vista, I'll use this thread to start listing questions and grumbles.

1. How do I turn off the feature that has new windows zoom out to their full size? I just want to open them the size they're supposed to be, thank you!

The top and sides are metallic silver. The front is black, with some LED accent lights shining down from the top and the middle. I think the LEDs will change color, depending on how fast you're running the processor, but I haven't looked into overclocking yet.

Well, Windows Vista asked me to name it! :)

They suggested something bland like "Marley's PC" but I had to give it a little more personality than that. And Ramsley was a very efficient ghost/butler, despite the bad press he had in The Haunted Mansion.

My car is Buttercup.

She's named after the green Powerpuff girl.

And here I thought it was just an anagram of "Marley's."

Do you mind telling me how much you paid, either via PM or here? I'm in the market myself....

That's not a secret--it's right on the BestBuy web site.

$1,199.99, which was just for the tower. I have a new 19" monitor from just a few months ago.

Nice!

What's it's Windows Experience Index?

I have no idea why your windows are always going to full-screen. That's not normal.

Has Dell improved its quality and tech support to what they used to be, or even half of that? I won't touch Dell because of those. Both severely suffered in recent years, especially the support when they shipped it offshore.

I'm also in the market, but plan to go with HP again. I've had very good luck with them over the last decade.

5.7

I didn't mean it goes to full-screen. I mean there's an effect of expanding to its regular window size instead of just appearing at that size in the first place.

Nooo!

HP is making bad hardware nowadays. They have been having many systems die in the first few months of use.
